Finishing Well...

The Winter Quarter has come to a close. It historically has proven to be the grind of the school year cycle. Being Winter Quarter, the weather gets a little colder and gloomier. The students and staff tend to feel the wear and tear being mid-year. It is crucial for us as leaders to be much more cautious to fatigue and to be restful in the Lord. We push hard as a ministry during this time of year. It is such a critical time of the school year, and serves as the springboard into the home stretch of the school year. The Winter Quarter involves important planning to help us transition into our summer sending.

Specifically, we spend so much energy and focus on our "Sending". This time of year is about gaining momentum for summer missions and vision for year long missions we call "Stint". Stint and Summer Project prove to be so crucial to our ministry sending momentum. They are experiences that will not only last a long time, but are contagious ministry moments that spread throughout the ministry at large. We saw great strides in our Summer Project sending. Last year Cal Poly's SLO Crusade sent the most students out for Summer Projects. It looks like the trend will continue this year! Praise God. We also have more students applying for Stint next year than we ahve ever had before. Amazing! Our Winter Quarter contained a large outreach to not only propel the gospel, but to build momentum in evangelism on campus. It proved successful in both aspects. We saw many students come to Christ during the week of the outreach. However, we saw it give great lift to our students and staff in terms of boldness and confidence in sharing our faith. That is so crucial.

We are now upon Spring Break. We have sent 74 students to New Orleans for Katrina Relief, along with 20 to San Diego to help propel the campus ministries of the San Diego Metro ministries. Currently, there are 3 full-time staff to reach over 25 campuses numbering 240,000 college students. So, our students are there to give lift with evangelism and campus decoding. We also have a team of students heading over to work and minister for a week at the Univ. of Hawaii. U of H is directed by former Cal Poly staff. This trip is sort of an unofficial partnership with Cal Poly and U of H to help them build their minsitry up.

Students being sent out. That is what it is all about...."students reaching students!"
