December Ministry Update

We just wrapped up an amazing Fall Quarter. It was a quarter of faith stretching and testing, yet one full of God and his graceful work. Over the past eleven weeks of school, he demonstrated his power and might. As staff, we joined an amazing bunch of student leaders with regular fasting and prayer. It truly is an amazing time of great dependency on God to work. There is so much as a ministry, as staff, and as students that we feel totally inadequate in. However, I find that this is the best place to be. A place of inadequacy lays down a path of humility and dependency. I have heard it said in terms of leading in ministry as well that “inadequacy is not a disqualifier, but a prerequisite.” Isn’t that the truth though? Take a look at great men and women of the Bible. Moses, Gideon, Ruth, and Peter are all examples of people who were inadequate, but trusted God and saw him move. That is right where we want to be as a ministry and as leaders.

Over the course of the quarter we saw many tremendous things happen. We saw great inroads made with the university and the administration. For the first time ever at Cal Poly, we were able to have a weekly meeting outside with amplified sound. It was powerful to see and hear 800 college students worshipping together in the middle of campus, and doing so with the permission of the university. We saw several people come to Christ that night. Amazing! Throughout the quarter there were dozens of other students who came to Christ through personal relationships with believers in our ministry. God is moving.

As we break for Christmas, please join us in praying for our upcoming Christmas conference called “Experience Jesus”. It is a conference beginning December 27th where over a thousand students from California, Arizona and Hawaii gather for a week of teaching, worship, and vision for the world. The conference always presents opportunities for everyone to grow in their walk with Christ. It also provides opportunities for students to hear more about how can not only affect their campus at home for Jesus, but they can also find out about how they can literally go to the world with Summer Projects and one year STINT opportunities.
